I wrote this somewhat Crassy, faux music hall song, after reading Oscar Wilde’s Essay ‘The Soul of Man under socialism’. I think it’s about 100 years ahead of it’s time and a lot of the sentiments apply today. Oscar’s idea that we should evolve throughout a life time, and hone our personalities through an exploration of our creativity, to become the best version of ourselves that we can, appeals to me. Also, that most of us never have the luxury of time to be able to do this due to pressing financial circumstances, often of our own design, is an experience I can relate to. I am fascinated by the idea of an Idea.
